About Me

I was born in Cochabamba, Bolivia and moved to the United States with my family when I was 10 years old. We came from very humble beginnings - when my parents started our family, we lived in a tiny room in the back of a mattress factory where my dad worked in Bolivia. My dad immigrated to the US in the early 90s to provide better opportunities for us. We faced financial challenges and moved around a lot, even living in a house without windows at one point. Despite these struggles, my childhood memories are filled with joy and happiness.

During the 2008 financial housing crisis, my family lost our home and I had to drop out of college. I started my first job as a driver and warehouse worker in a food pantry, which opened my eyes to the possibility of having a career helping other people. I eventually transitioned into the Finance and Accounting field, and now I feel very fortunate and grateful for the journey life has taken me down throughout my adolescence and adulthood.

Growing up in challenging circumstances has instilled in me a deep appreciation for the importance of financial stability and planning. It has also motivated me to pursue a career in finance, where I can help organizations and individuals manage their finances effectively. I bring a unique perspective to my work that combines technical knowledge with a strong sense of empathy and a desire to make a positive impact in the world.

As an experienced financial management professional, I have a track record of supporting program management and executive leadership in developing and maintaining complex organizational budgets. I bring a strong analytical focus to budget development and have the ability to defend budget recommendations with data and evidence-based analyses.

In my previous roles at the Center for American Progress, I played a critical role in developing and consolidating programmatic and organizational budgets. I vetted funding requests, reviewed proposal budgets, and monitored spending to ensure the organization remained within its set budget. My ability to provide strategic financial guidance to Senior Vice Presidents, Directors, and Program Managers helped to maximize financial efficiency and meet organizational goals.

At Northern Virginia Family Service and Latino Economic Development Center, I provided financial grants management and budget planning support to underserved communities in Northern Virginia, Maryland, and Washington D.C. I interpreted and understood federal, state, and foundational grant agreements and contracts and related regulations, providing valuable insight to managers and directors.

With my extensive experience in accounting and financial management, I am well-equipped to analyze financial data and provide strategic guidance to organizations. I am dedicated to delivering exceptional results and am excited to continue making a meaningful impact in the field of financial management.
